ista is the global market leader in consumption-dependent collection, reading and billing of energy, water and ancillary costs. Its services include delivery and installation of measuring technology, meter reading and individual billing.

Founded in 1957 and based in Essen, Germany, ista is active in 25 countries globally. It has more than 4,500 employees and over 40 million installed measuring devices.

Charterhouse sold ista to CVC Capital Partners in 2013. During the period of ownership, Charterhouse worked with the ista management team to grow the business taking advantage of regulatory changes and expansion into emerging markets.
