Charterhouse Capital Partners announces acquisition of Batibig, a leading French building maintenance and emergency repairs services platform
July 17, 2026
Charterhouse Capital Partners (“Charterhouse”), one of the longest established private equity firms operating in Europe, today announces that it has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire Batibig (“the Group”), a leading B2B provider of emergency building repairs, maintenance, and renovation services in France. Charterhouse will invest in partnership with Batibig’s co-founders, Charles and Justin Bignon, who will continue to lead the business alongside the existing management team. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approval.
Founded in 2005, Batibig has built a leading position in the French market with more than €500m in revenue through a differentiated multi-service, multi-regional platform offering customers a single point of contact for emergency repairs, maintenance and renovation works for residential and commercial buildings. The Group operates through a network of companies across France and employs over 2,000 people, carrying out more than 300,000 interventions annually.
Batibig serves a diversified base of professional customers including property managers and building managers across both private and public markets. The Group also operates a graduate programme for entrepreneurial young graduates, designed to support the succession of traditional and family-owned businesses.
Since founding, Batibig has become one of France’s leading consolidation platforms in building maintenance and emergency repairs. The business has successfully expanded beyond its historical plumbing, waterproofing and roofing activities into a broad range of specialist trades including external thermal insulation, air conditioning and electrical works, enabling it to offer a comprehensive service offering to its customers.
The market for emergency repairs and small renovation works benefits from resilient, recurring demand, supported by tailwinds such as ageing building stock, increasing renovation requirements, more frequent extreme weather events and the continued focus on improving the energy efficiency of buildings. The market also remains highly fragmented, presenting significant opportunities for further consolidation.
Charterhouse will partner with Batibig's co-founders and management team to support the next phase of the company's growth. Building on its proven expertise in executing buy-and-build strategies and expanding companies geographically, Charterhouse intends to continue pursuing Batibig's acquisition strategy, strengthening the Group's presence across France and internationally, with the ambition of creating a pan-European leader.
Vincent Pautet, Partner at Charterhouse Capital Partners, said: "Batibig has built an outstanding business with a unique market position, combining best-in-class operational execution and an experienced management team with a highly successful buy-and-build strategy. Charterhouse's track record of supporting founder-led businesses and scaling European services platforms makes us well placed to support Batibig in this next chapter. We are delighted to partner with Charles, Justin and the wider management team to support the creation of a pan-European leader.”
Charles and Justin Bignon, Co-Founders of Batibig, said: "Since founding Batibig more than twenty years ago, our ambition has always been to build the leading partner for emergency building repairs and renovation services. We are proud of what our teams have achieved and excited to begin this next phase alongside Charterhouse. Their experience in supporting ambitious founder-led businesses and accelerating buy-and-build strategies across France and beyond made them the natural partner for us. By reinvesting significantly alongside Charterhouse, we are reaffirming our long-term commitment to Batibig and our confidence in the strong opportunities ahead."
